Another Marshak Elevator Update

So, the out-of-service Marshak Hall elevators, previously appearing on the blog here and here, are finally completed!
The "Brand New Elevators" have shiny new metal doors:
and the insides are pretty nice as well.

Of course, not everything is perfect.  First of all, they just took the other three elevators out of service to upgrade them. So, if we're lucky, by this time next year, there's a chance that all six will be working.  And, they haven't quite worked out the button labeling, either:
It's been about a month since they came online, and the "Temporary" signs are still up.  Considering that the elevators were "temporarily" out of service for a whole year, I don't have high hopes for this sign being replaced any time soon.

  1. I think the ADA police should be getting to them soon, since blind people will be getting of on the wrong floor. That is really quite cruel, and not nice either.

  2. It seems really strange that they got that faceplate there with floors 1-14, and only then realized that Marshak Hall only has 13 floors.

  3. I suspect that it's a standard elevator plate and will be replaced eventually, but they wanted to get the things running finally, and didn't want to wait for that to come in.

  4. Also, Anonymous: I think it probably violates some safety things, too, since exit levels should be marked with a star, and both SL and P are exit levels.

  5. Please Eli will you make a "very temporary" sign surrounding this temporary sign with some sort of arbitrary mapping of new numbers onto the temporary numbers (with nice arrows of course (and blog the evidence of course).

  6. That is an absolutely hilarious idea! I'll give it a shot!
