Algae Growing in a Cup, a Timelapse

So when my basil plant finally died - there was a thriving algae community growing in the water. I decided to let it live on and continue to provide my apartment with oxygen. Here is a short time-lapse video I made of it.

Grew one of these for a while. Strangely satisfying.

    2. You can pick one up on eBay or at some pet shops. There are fakes (wadded burlap with regular algae) but a real marimo actually leaves the water clear and it just keeps growing as a ball. You have to remember to rotate it but - how cool is that? "Excuse a sec, I need to roll my alga over."
It finally died an ignominious death when someone spilled its home out.
